Moving Goods

Once production spreads beyond your settlement, each outlying cluster needs a warehouse with a road connection to the town hall. For the Wild West Pioneers move goods between warehouses setup, connect your warehouses to the town hall by road and keep each production building within its local warehouse's range; the warehouses share goods automatically, even when their ranges do not overlap.

Game Launch Central's advanced tips spend a long section on warehouse placement and staffing (from about the 10-minute mark):

How Do You Supply a Distant Production Building?

A warehouse's coverage circle is its local reach, not the limit of your network. Roads link warehouses across the settlement; coverage decides which nearby production buildings each one serves.

For example, you can put a warehouse near a distant hunting area and connect it to the town hall. A hunter's cabin within that warehouse's range can supply meat to a butcher's shop back in your settlement.

Connect the outlying warehouse to the town hall

Build the warehouse near the production area and give it a road connection to the town hall. If a connection breaks, use How to Restore a Warehouse Connection.

Put the production building inside local coverage

Place the hunter's cabin or lumberjack's cabin within the nearby warehouse's reach and connect the building by road. Open the warehouse menu and check the building is listed as connected; don't judge the distance by eye.

Check the receiving end

Keep the receiving production building within its own local warehouse's coverage too. For the hunter and butcher example, check that meat reaches the butcher in the settlement.

How Can You Increase a Warehouse's Range?

Assign workers to the warehouse using its plus or max button. More warehouse workers increase its reach. Watch the coverage grow as you assign them, and check it now reaches the building you want.

If the road is already there but a building sits just outside coverage, try more workers before building another warehouse. The connected-building list in the same panel confirms it worked.

How Do You Get Food From a Remote Cluster to Tents?

Keep the resource area and the housing area apart. Place a hunter's cabin, butcher, lumberjack's cabin, and warehouse near the wildlife, then build the tents elsewhere within water supply coverage.

Keep the lumberjack's cabin out of the wildlife area itself. Placing it inside that area makes the deer run away, undermining the hunting setup you were trying to supply.

Near the tents, place another warehouse and a food shop. Connect the warehouses to the town hall. Food from the warehouse beside the hunter and butcher reaches the warehouse beside the shop, and the shop distributes it to the tents.

The warehouse only brings food into the housing area; the food shop hands it to residents. For that step, see How to Unlock the Food Shop. For the housing side of this layout, use Where to Place Wells and How Their Range Works.

What Should You Try If Distant Warehouses Still Do Not Share?

Start With the Road and Local Coverage Setup

Warehouse ranges do not need to overlap. Check the road to the town hall, the production building's local coverage, and the connected-building list before adding extra warehouses. Judge success at the destination: the butcher gets meat, or the food shop can feed the tents.

Try an Intermediate Warehouse if the Route Still Fails

One player reported that an out-of-range warehouse would not share goods. After rearranging the warehouses and adding another between them so their ranges linked up, goods shared successfully. If the basic layout checks out and goods still don't move, an intermediate warehouse is worth trying, though most settlements don't need one.

Why Can Goods Be in Inventory but Still Miss Nearby Homes?

A delivery problem can also sit at the distribution building. One player could see moonshine in inventory, but cabins beside the saloon were not receiving it. Reloading cleared that nearby supply problem. Cabins farther away still lacked moonshine because they were outside the saloon's radius.

So check two things: whether goods reach the network, and whether the distributor's radius reaches the homes. If nearby homes miss out, try a reload; for farther ones, check the radius.

Next, see the food shop guide if food distribution is your next task, or How to Get a Moonshine License if you are working on the moonshine side of your settlement.
