For the Wild West Pioneers gold mines location beyond the river deposits, send scouts to find the abandoned mine, then establish a second settlement there to mine gold. Another location clue points to Sandstorm: blow up the rock on the nearest mountain to reach an infinite gold mine. Whether these clues describe the same site is not confirmed yet.
How Do You Reach the Abandoned Mine?
Explore with scouts
Send scouts to explore and find the abandoned mine location. For the separate scouting unlock question, see how to unlock the Scout Hut.
Establish a second settlement
Set up a second settlement at the abandoned mine to mine its gold.
Supply both settlements
Manage both settlements and send supplies back and forth from your main settlement.
If your scouts will not return and you cannot send anyone to the discovered location, see bringing scouts back to the settlement. A fix for this specific abandoned-mine blockage is not confirmed yet.
Where Is the Gold Mine in Sandstorm?
In Sandstorm, look for the nearest mountain and blow up the rock to access an infinite gold mine. For the related rock-removal task, see recruiting the explosive expert and removing rocks.
Exact coordinates and the relationship between Sandstorm and the abandoned mine are not confirmed yet.
Are the River Deposits the Gold Mines?
The first map has three gold spots along the river. These are the river deposits, while the starting area has no mines except a stone quarry. If you are asking “Where are the Gold Mines” after finding river gold, follow the exploration route above to find the abandoned mine.
