Select the scouts

On the world map, click the scout avatar or the expedition itself. The return control depends on having the team selected. Scout avatar reply; expedition reply.

Give the return order

Right-click your settlement and choose Send Scouts. Alternatively, use the send back arrow shown when you click the expedition on the world map. Settlement order; expedition arrow.

Let the expedition move

If the order appears to do nothing, press play to unpause the game. Players reported that unpausing resolved a stationary expedition. Resolved expedition report; resolved scout report.

If Return to Settlement only closes the world map, select the scouts first and use their return order. A player reported that the settlement button shown without scouts selected took them out of the map instead of sending the team home. If the team still does not move, check the pause state.
